Socialism?

Websters defines socialism as

a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.

People are all up in arms about how they all think that President Obama is going to bring the US to it’s knees with his marxist regime! OH NOES!

They scream from the rafters after hearing some agenda driven talk radio host or pundit on a tv news show about this.

I find that funny in many ways…I wonder how many of these people are married and receive tax breaks because of it? I wonder how many of these people have homes and receive tax breaks because of it. I wonder how many of these people have received education funds for college because of it, or send their kids to public schools? Or use public transportation, or receive unemployment, or receive subsidised housing or receive food stamps? Or bought a new car with the cash for clunkers program? Or get SOCIAL SECURITY or Medicare or Medicade or went to a free clinic or the ER and didn’t pay the bill…I could go on and on and on, but I am willing to bet that the majority of these people LOVE their Socialism when it fits their needs and are not whipped into a frenzy by some talking blow hard with an agenda.

Love thy neighbor was a nice thought by Jesus, It’s too bad that a lot of people here in the US don’t subscribe to that theory. Maybe we can petition the Pope to change the Bible or see if King James or Martin Luther are hidden somewhere so we can re-write certain passages in the bible specifically for the US Audience.

Love Thy Neighbor, unless you have to pay for them too. Who cares if they are down trodden or sick or bed ridden. BOOT STRAPS!

Is it wrong to want to get health care for all US Citizens? Is it wrong to want your fellow man to have piece of mind, knowing that if something happens to them or their family they are covered? A healthy populace is a happy and productive populace.

But what do I know. I lived off of Food Stamps, went to public schools, took public transportation, got an FHA Loan, got the marriage tax breaks etc, etc, etc…I guess I am a socialist…Are you???

It’s election day!

The day is finally here! After 2 years of campaigning it’s finally come to an end, WE HOPE!!!

I voted for 2 Dems and 1 GOP, so I can actually say I don’t vote along party lines. Actually, a lot of people don’t vote along party lines, but since the system does not like that, it’s not really mentioned much. It’s much more convenient to have people gnawing at the bit to go off on someone that voted for the other party.

Don’t ya just love the Political System in the US…

So, what happens now? What will the news stations do? I guess they will now go over WHY someone won and WHY someone lost. Then they will get into the historic precedence of either the first Black (Mixed) President or first Woman Vice President. So that will take about a week, then time off for the holidays and then the inauguration so I figure by February the campaign for 2012 will begin. YES!!!

Can we take another 4 years of campaigning???

Politics

I  have been really absorbed with politics lately. I guess it’s bound to happen in a Presidential Election year but I think the stakes are bigger this year. I know that it’s said every election, but it just seems that it is this year because of all the shit the US is going through right now.

I am an Obama supporter and 8 years ago I was a McCain Supporter. Are they really that different? No, right now it’s all what the base wants them to say, which is where it gets political. McCain is not as far right as his base wants him to be and Obama is not left enough for his base and the both of them are pretty much centralist, of which, I am one.

The thing though is how do we become labels? How can we define a person by a politcal label? The times now a days are put into 15-30 second sound bites so it’s easier to define someone by one word and label them that instead of looking at a person and really finding what they are about. I guess it’s like dating. You look for things that you can relate or not relate to when you first meet someone and then make a guess at what you think will happen after that. It sorta goes with the BUT they have a great personality, when you didn’t even take the time to get to know them at all.

Politics now is nothing more than hate spewing venom back and forth, back and forth. and it’s time that we stop this. Obama seems to have taken a higher road the McCain, but that is easy because McCain is behind and felt he had to go negative to rile up hate emotions, and that is never a good thing.

If both candidates REALLY want to help this country they should know that hate is NEVER a good thing and FEAR is just as bad, but look, FEAR won Bush a second term and it’s being used now to try to get McCain a first term.

More later…

Gotta love the election season!

It really can produce some great zingers!

Recently heard on the CAPS Message board. (back Story)

*It was just another “dicsussion* about McCain vs Obama and one of the commenters is an Immigrant here from Ireland, lets call him Mr. Green,  that is in the final phase to get his citizenship. Lets pick up the conversation…

McCain Supporter: “Your opinion in this electoral process means nothing. Stop acting like it does. You’re like a rude guest.

Also, I don’t know how surmising how people might react, had McCain made a similar gaffe, constitutes a lie, or an insult, or anything to justify the attacks I’ve received in this thread. But you keep pushing it.”

Mr. Green: “You’re in california and voting McCain. My non vote counts just as much as yours as CA will go to Obama.

And by the time the next election comes round, I’ll be a citizen, and VA will likely still be a battleground, so my vote will be worth even more than yours.

Coming to your country and being more important than you. That’s the american dream right there.”

OH MY DAMN! That right there is the Money shot!  Peter North would be so proud!

What can you come back with now to save face?

VIVA LA IGNORANCE!

Seriously What is wrong with the world today? A father keeping his daughter captive while raping her and forcing the kids/grandkids to stay in a cellar with their mother. Voters in West Virginia and Pennsylvania stating they won’t vote for Obama because he is black, Muslim and has an atheist wife. People Dying in Myanmar because their military regime does not trust anyone.

The list goes on and on and ignorance reigns supreme!!!

VIVA LA IGNORANCE!!!!

Makes one wonder what the hell GOD really is thinking. Well, if there really is a GOD.

It is downright depressing at times that in this day and age there are still people out there that are as ignorant as those from 100 years ago.

VIVA LA IGNORANCE!!!

Is it Election carp or crap?

I am really tired of the Democratic Primary crap. While I want Obama to win, I am just sick and tired of hearing about him and his pastor, his lapel, his religion etc. I am also sick of hearing about Hillary’s 3am phone calls, snipers, defectors and all that crap.

I am just a simple 37 year old male that wants REAL substance in the news, not the crap they have been tooling out. Maybe if the news organizations started reported on real news, instead of someones talking points it would not be so bad, but it appears that that day is a LONG way away. Hell, I bet McCain could come out and say that he fucks donkeys every day and loves it and the press would ignore it just to focus on Rev. Wright and Kosovo snipers.

It’s overkill right now and all the News organizations, the DNC and the Democrat candidates should be ashamed of themselves. Welcome to tabloid television. We make your mind up for you…

I voted in the Virginia Primary.

I voted in the Democrat Primary today. I really wanted John Edwards but he dropped out a month or so ago. I really felt that he was the only one telling it like it is. He was focusing on REAL problems instead of just speaking. Since he was not there, I went to Obama.

I voted Obama over Clinton because I felt that, even though they are pretty much spewing the same rhetoric, he could bring together the country better than Clinton. The Country has suffered the last 8 years due to Bush and has polarized the majority of the people in it. Obama has a better chance of bringing the country back together and to begin the healing process. Hillary does not have a chance in doing that. She is just as polarizing as Bush due to her background.

To me it’s not a Man vs Woman thing, a Mixed Race vs White thing, but a whats better for the country thing and right now, I feel that Obama is the best of what’s left.

GO OBAMA!!!
