Moving on.

When you grow up you have a certain expectation or perception of how things are supposed to be. You expect family to be there, you expect someone to answer when you call 911, you perceive the military to be full of virtuous people and you expect to utter “till death do us part” to mean well, you will be with that person until you die…

Sometimes things shatter these expectations and perceptions.  I always expected my marriage to be one of those expectations that lasted forever, but like life, shit happens. Sometimes there is good shit and sometimes there is bad shit and sometimes there is shit that no matter what happens anyway. Well, in this case, it just happened.

As mentioned before, it has been tough and since I am an emotional person, it has been extra tough. Going to work each day keeping a smile on my face and trying to be stoic only ended up kicking me in the ass in the end. It’s hard to keep life and word separate and when this happens it’s even harder. Sometimes it’s good things and sometimes it’s bad things. It just so happened that this time it was a good and bad thing. A work confrontation pushed me over the edge, though I did not do anything, it was the last straw and due to that I made the decision to just take the plunge. I made a snap decision and decided to put in my 2 week notice and pack up what I have left and move back to where I always considered home.

One cannot describe the amount of stress one gets when you are going through something like this, but when I sent off the email stating I am leaving, it was like someone removed a huge weight off of me. It’s like I can actually breath now, and of course that was gone once I thought about, WHAT THE HELL AM I GOING TO DO!? I don’t have a job and I just making a leap of faith, even if you have none.

Thankfully I have a good support system in Maine already. I have the Staples family who is like my second family. I have high school and college friends that have wandered back into my life via Facebook. (Just a suggestion for those out there, just because you leave does not mean you have to drop all contact with all of your longtime friends. That is the WORST thing to do, I am just glad I found them again). I have all I need and the job will come and the pain will subside, joy and happiness will come and best of all life will go on.

I will probably always love Christine as she will hold a space in my heart forever but somethings are just not meant to be and as much as it hurt, this is really the best for both of us.

This chapter of my life will close on June 26th, 2009 and the new chapter will begin when I drive over the Piscataqua River Bridge and welcome the embrace of home…

How do they know?

So I get up to go to the bathroom last night and I was gone for a about a minute, by the time I got back to bed, Christine already took over the bed. I was relegated to about 1/10 of the bed…
That got me to thinking. How the hell she knows I got up? And what makes her think I wont be back? This is not just an isolated incident, this happens a lot! It’s like a woman has a 6th sense when the bed is empty and then they take it over, like a game of Risk!
It really is quite uncanny…
As for me, I ended up curled into a ball for the rest of the night…Grrrr….

WTF is up with me and Meatloaf?

This is like the 3rd day in a row I woke up with a fucking Meatloaf song in my head, and it’s always Bat Out of Hell! Who did I piss off to deserve this? Actually, that is not fair. I do like the song, but why is it in my head? ARGH!

Classmates.com is evil. Plain and simple.

You ever have people contact you out of the blue? Someone you have NEVER met before contacts you and says that you are related?! I had that happen a few weeks ago and the kicker is, I never won the lottery so why is she contacting me? Well, apparently she is the cousin of my father and just wanted to contact some of the family to work on genealogy. Anyway, I pointed her to my sister because she is more into that than I am…

Is it going to be a good day?

I dont think it’s going to be a good day. I woke up with Bat Out of Hell, by Meatloaf, stuck in my head. I think there is something wrong when that happens.

Why can’t life be simple?

Rock wins!!!

And of course, Rock won. There was no doubt! I just wonder why they would film it in February and wait until now to show it? That is just TOO long to keep under wraps. Also, Kudo’s to Rock for appear on DC101, not sure if it was his publicist that set it up, but it was good of him to go on there, and good of Elliot to have him on.

Do you ever wonder who your family is? To go looking through your family tree to see who you are related too. To see where you come from? I think like that sometime, then I think that sometimes it’s better off not knowing…

F- you Chef!

The wife has got me into watching Hell’s Kitchen. It’s not that bad of a show, mainly because the Head Chef, Gordon Ramsey, is such a dick. He plays no favorites and treats everyone the same.  I could care less about the contestants, I just want to see what Gordon will do to them!

Gordon has a show, Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmage on BBC America that we watch. In this show he travels to restaurants that need help and he gives them very blunt critiques on what they should do to their restaurant to improve it. He really is a tool, but at least he treats everyone the same.  Even with his harsh exterior, you can tell he really does care about what he is doing.   He might not like the person, but he loves the profession.

As for Hell’s Kitchen, I think Rock will win. He has the Drive and determination to win, which his last competitor, Bonnie, does not have.  She may be a good cook, but does not have the certain UMPH that you need to succeed as a Head Chef. Rock does have that dickish attitude and I think Chef Ramsey sees that in him. Not to mention that Bonnie sees to be too damn whiny and air headed.

Good luck Rock!

Windows to the future or a depleated bank account.

Who knew windows could cost so much! The wife and I decided it was time to replace the windows in our Condo. We looked over the recommended company from the HOA and decided to look at a different vendor just to get a different quote. Christine contacted Long Windows and they stopped by at 7:30.

Arkansas, or how I debunked the myth.

I recently went to Arkansas, specifically Little Rock and surrounding communities, and I went in with a preconceived notion of how the people were and how it would appear. I thought of trailer parks, run down cars, poverty, hicks, no teeth, dirt, beat up cars etc…Well, I saw some of that, but not any different than any other place. Little Rock was a nice little city, very clean, nice restaurants down on President William Clinton BLVD/Street or whatever they called it.  The surround communities, at least the ones I went to, were just like any other place I had been to. While it was not exactly Northern Virginia, it was still a nice place and looked like a nice place to live.  OH! I also had some kick ass BBQ from The Mean Pig. If you ever find your self in Cabot, Arkansas, stop by and have some BBQ. I only had the BBQ Beef Sandwich with some Cole Slaw but it was almost perfect!

Happy New Year and shit.

Yes it’s 2007.

You ever wonder if life is passing you by? I am 36 freaking years old and have no idea where all the time went. I got out of the Army over 10 years ago and the only achievement since then was getting married, which is a big step. But I have not done much else. I guess buying a place is one, but I just feel like I have not done much and the world passed me by. Is 36 a little young for a mid life crisis? When do I buy the hot rod Lincoln? *sigh*
Bruins got crushed last night. Caps won. 1-1 night, not bad…

WoW is fun, getting more exp on various zones and having a lot of fun. Just think the wife does not like me playing so much…*sigh*

Good bye EQ2 and Hello WoW again.

Finally quit EQ2 for good. I was having a good time but my enjoyment just seemed to wane until I finally decided to call it quits. Yet another brick wall was hit. Meh…

Since I quit EQ2, I looked at WoW again and I am back and it’s fun again. Here I am in all my Glory I have found that it can hold my interest as I can finally start attaining things again. I have also found one of my old guildmates and was added to their guild on a provisional basis. I have started doing some PVP action to get some of the PVP gear to upgrade my current crap I have. It’s going to take a few weeks to get the needed honor, but at least I am having fun doing it! WHOOT! I am currently working towards gaining the High Warlord Cleaver. After that I am kinda unsure what I want, maybe a new shield or some other armour upgrade. I also have to raid a few times with the Guild. they are a pacific raiding guild, so that can make things difficult, but I am gonna try at least. it’s only sleep, right? :-)

The Wifes birthday was yesterday and we had a good time. Saw the movie, “The Holiday” which was not to bad. It had Kate Winslet, which is on my to DO list. Ahhh…one day…We then went out for dinner at Maggiano’s which was a great dining experience. If you have never gone, GO and make sure you go hungry!!! The food is great and the atmosphere is not to shabby either. We then hit up CheeseCake Factory and grabbed dessert before we headed home. Don’t ask about the drive home, it sucked. Overall a good day for the wife.

I was contacted by the Washington Caps last week about getting season tickets. I had a pleasant conversation with their rep, Ian. talked for a good 30-45 minutes and I am set on getting some tickets, just have to get it past the wife. I was so impressed by Ian that I actually sent an email to Ted Leonsis letting him know that his marketing team is doing a great job! I have not heard back from Him :-( but you never know…

Make sure you check out The Peerless Prognosticator to get his insight on the Caps!

Merry Christmas!
