What is it about really bad songs?

What is it about really bad songs that make them stick in your head? New Kids on the Block. Never owned a tape or CD of them, yet I know some of their songs. Milli Vinilli, same thing. Wham!, Richard Marx etc…I guess I listened to the radio too much as a kid, but the question remains. Why do I remember the lyrics? Did I really like these songs? has MTV really effected me that much when I was a kid?   Is this grounds for my wife to divorce me? My Cats leaving? All my friends disavowing me?

Can I Blame it on the Rain? Or should I Hang Tough? If  I Hold onto the Night would you please Wake me up before you go go…

Living Colour

When I was a kid in my mid teens I loved the band Living Colour. No not the TV Show, I never really liked it, too over the top.
I often wondered what happened to Living Colour. They were unique and had a very distinguished sound. Heck, how many Hard Rock bands were comprised of all black men? Heck, how many Rock Bands had Black people in them? *Fishbone excluded*
Sure there are cultural differences, but when it comes down to it, music is music and that “should” overcome other differences.
Living Colour seemed to be the band that would break through and establish a unique sound while breaking away from the stereotype. Their first hit “Cult of Personality” was a bone fide hit. It was a great song to me and there were a few others on their first CD that were good, but after that they seemed to fade away. One top of the world one day and has been the next. Whatever happened to them, I don’t really know, but I will remember them fondly.

*Yes I know I can check out their Wikipedia and Myspace page, since I linked it, but I prefer to be left in the dark :p*

What to do, what to do?

So, I finally decided to cash in all of my Best Buy gift cards and in doing so I purchased a new IPOD. It’s the 30GB one with all the video goodness…I don’t plan on using the video, at least not yet. I figure eventually I will though, since I am too much of a techno geek.
I have also bought a few songs and an album. I finally got Quiet Riots, Greatest Hits. I also got a Sly and the Family Stone song. It was in the movie Dead Presidents and on an episode of ER we watched yesterday. It’s a good song as funk goes.

The wife was not happy because she wants a new one. I told her not to get one because I am getting her one for the Anniversary. I had it all planned out, but I don’t think she will be able to wait until then. ARGH! She better wait!!!

Itunes is a nice little program except when I moved all my ripped music into Itunes it changed how some Albums were set up. I have a few soundtracks there were split up into individual artists. That is troublesome when you have to move files around and such. I was not too happy about it, but there was not much I could do about it now!

So, now, what to do with the DELL DJ? Well, I guess it’s time to have it show up on Craigs list or at least EBAY. Which reminds me, I need to get rid of my XBOX too, but that is another story…

A day of Rememberance.

Memorial Day, 2006. A time to remember all the Veterans that gave their life in defense of what they swore to uphold. No matter what war or conflict, these men and women deserve a time of rememberance. This goes for all POWS that are still out there. Thank-you.

I am listening to the Dixie Chicks new Album. Taking the Long Way is a pretty good album. It’s a shame the crap the so called “Americans” have put them through. Sure they can speak their minds, but look at what happened with the Chicks did. Blacklisted for stating what they felt. Great showing there people. And someone tell Reba to STFU. Dumbass bitch.

Playing EQ2 again. Enjoyable again. Tradeskills suck, but it’s more on that I hate the tedious process. But I can understand why it is the way it is. Not sure how long I will stick with it, but right now, it’s passing the time and I am sure SOE is happy with me. I am a lvl 13 Ogre Brigand. Why? Something different. Usually play a tank or mage, decided on something a little different.

What is CBS thinking by dumping Love Monkey? Great Show and yet they dumped it after a few episodes. They put it on VH1 to die. They take a good show and put it opposite Boston legal and another Law and Order, both established shows, and expect it to flourish?!?!? WHat? Love Monkey is new and different and has a very likable character in Tom Ferrell played by Tom Cavanagh. If they moved it to their Friday or Monday Lineup it would flourish. They dump this but keep that crap with Charlie Sheen? Give it a good timeslot and it will produce! Course it is probably too late now and will not come back to CBS. Maybe the CM can pick it up? That would be nice.
